This etching, for which no related oil painting is presently known, depicts Tissot’s ubiquitous model of the period, Kathleen Newton, as well as her daughter and possibly her niece, lounging outdoors on a fur rug. The pool and colonnade in the background confirm the setting as the artist’s garden in fashionable Saint John’s Wood, London.
