This exquisite color Renoir is world-renowned and highly recognized to be Renoir’s best print. Each of the 10 colors found in the composition makes way for a stunningly captivating glimpse into these children’s world; they are completely immersed in their carefree playground of a charmingly over-grown field on a bright summer’s day. Not only do we see an intricate composition of four characters, we are welcomed into the work through its grand scale and sunny disposition.
Examples of this piece have been exhibited in public collections all over the world, including the Cabinet des Estampes, Paris; Kupferstich-Kabinett, Dresde; Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; New York Public Library; National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
